The event which marks the end of seven jubilees occurs 350 years after
the word to build Jerusalem, which would mean it occurred 400 years
after Exodus.
To identify the event concerned we need to consider the following verse.
1 Kin 6:1 And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth
year after the children of Israel had come out of the
land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign
over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second
month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
This verse provides us with a point in time 480 years after Exodus,
therefore it overshoots the mark by 80 years.
It is necessary to work back in time 80 years from the 4th year of
Solomon's reign.
From 1 Kings 6:1 we notice the 4th year of Solomon was when Solomon
began to build the temple of the LORD.
King David, Solomon's father, had wanted to build the temple.
2 Sam 7:2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See
now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of
God dwells inside tent curtains".
:4 But it happened that night that the word of the
LORD came to Nathan, saying,
:5 "Go tell My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD:
"Would you build a house for Me to dwell in?"
1 Chr 28:2 Then King David rose to his feet and said, "Hear
me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart
to build a house of rest for the ark of the
covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of
our God, and had made preparations to build it."
David was not permitted to build this house for God.
1 Chr 22:8 but the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "You
have shed much blood and have made great wars; you
shall not build a house for My name, because you
have shed much blood on the earth in My sight".
The house of God was still to be built, but it was to be built by
Solomon.
1 Chr 22:9 Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a
man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his
enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for
I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his
days.
:10 He shall build a house for My name, and he shall
be My son, and I will be his Father; ....
Nevertheless, David made extensive preparations for the house of God's
construction.
1 Chr 22:2 So David commanded to gather the aliens who were in
the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to cut
hewn stones to build the house of God.
:3 And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails
of the doors of the gates and for the joints, and
bronze in abundance beyond measure,
:4 and cedar trees in abundance; for the Sidonians and
those from Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
:5 Now David said, "Solomon my son is young and
inexperienced, and the house that is to be built
for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent,
famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will
now make preparation for it." So David made abundant
preparations before his death.
:11 Now, my son, may the LORD be with you; ....
:14 Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the
house of the LORD one hundred thousand talents of
gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze
and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I
have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add
to them.
Even the building plans were prepared.
1 Chr 28:11 Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the
vestibule, its houses, its treasuries, its upper
chambers, its inner chambers, and the place of the
mercy seat;
:12 and the plans for all that he had by the Spirit,
....
With such extensive preparation, the only factor which had prevented
an earlier start to the construction was that David had been prevented
from participating. For while David was still reigning, the house of
God could not be built. From this we know the 4th year of the reign
of Solomon, the year when building began, was also the time King
David's reign ended!
The 4th year of the reign of Solomon, mentioned in 1 Kings 6:1, was
calculated from when Solomon was first crowned. The reigns of King
David and Solomon his son had overlapped by a few years.
Having established David's reign ended in the 4th year (or late in
the 3rd year) of the reign of Solomon, we need to progress back
in time 80 years.
We know from Scripture that King David reigned a total of forty years.
2 Sam 5:4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign,
and he reigned forty years.
:5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and
six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three
years over all Israel and Judah.
This period of forty years is also confirmed in 1 Kings 2:11 and
1 Chron 29:27.
Prior to David being crowned king, Saul had been king of Israel.
We can see from the following verses that David started to reign
over Judah following the death of Saul.
2 Sam 2:3 And David brought up the men who were with him,
every man with his household. So they dwelt in the
cities of Hebron.
:4 Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed
David king over the house of Judah. And they told
David, saying, 'The men of Jabesh Gilead were the
ones who buried Saul'.
Saul also reigned forty years.
Acts 13:21 And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave
them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of
Benjamin, for forty years.
Therefore we have arrived at the time which marks when Saul was
crowned king of Israel!
